I'm heading out to my local self-serve wrecking yard tomorrow to hopefully find some brackets and whatnots. I'm also going to be looking for a dust cover for a TH400 (probably from a truck). That means crawling under whatever I can find that has the aforementioned transmission.
I need an Oppo opinion, should I bring coveralls or can I get by with regular clothes? I ask because it's going to be in the mid-90s when I'm out there and there ain't no shade in a junk yard. I've been out there before but only when the weather was more temperate and I've never had to climb under anything before. Have a Camaro for your troubles in honor of my project car.

What does the yard charge for a dust cover? The TCI one at Summit is only $22 new.

I think it comes under "miscellaneous" and would run $5 or so. I wouldn't make a special trip for it, but I thought since I was going out there anyway I'd take a look for one.

Gotcha. I know some yards can be shitty about stuff like that so I wasn't sure. I'd bring some cardboard with me to lay on and forego the coveralls.

I'd either wear old jeans & an old T-shirt, or coveralls without shirt or pants, just underwear.

I wear old t shirts and jeans when I work on stuff and am usually fine. Only wear anything more if I'm using heavier duty power tools, like long sleeves and gloves for angle grinder etc.

That's a really good idea that I hadn't thought of. Thanks!
